Belmont Festival
Sunday 7th July 2024
from 12 noon to 5pm

The Belmont Festival is back for 2024!
A Fantastic Fun Family Event with FREE ENTRY!

The Belmont Festival is on Sunday 7th July and is open to the public from 12 noon to 5pm.  It is a very popular community event that takes place throughout Belmont Village (SM2 6BS) between the Brighton Road and Belmont Rise (A217).  The centrepiece of the Festival is the main stage located across Station Road near to the Belmont War Memorial.

The Festival regularly attracts a large number of visitors, typically over 4,000, who come from all over the south of the London Borough of Sutton and further afield.

The opening parade will start at 12.15 and features the rousing Gary Mason Drummers who will lead the opening parade followed by the Mayor of Sutton and the Shimmy Sisters.  They will process through the Festival area to the main stage for the formal opening

Why do we run the Belmont Festival?

  • The Festival's primary aim is to give the local community a great family fun-day.  Entry is FREE.
  • To collect money for our local charity, the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity – see below for what we are specifically collecting for.  The Festival also hosts collections for several other local charities.
  • To promote the Belmont Village Local Centre and its shops many of which will be open to showcase their wares and promote the Village as a vibrant local shopping centre.

The Festival is totally run by volunteers and all proceeds are donated to charity.

It is a truly Win Win Win event!

Live entertainment takes place in four venues around the Festival area:

On the Main Stage we have a spectacular line-up of live entertainment compered throughout the day by Radio Marsden.  The live acts featured on stage include choirs and bands from several of our local schools.

In the
Park, you can relax (bring a rug), enjoy a drink from the Beer Tent and soak up the atmosphere while listening to live Big Band music from the Norwood Wind Ensemble.

In the St John's  Church's Tea Room you can chill out and enjoy delicious, fresh, home baked cakes with a cuppa, while being entertained by talented local musicians who will be playing gentle relaxing music for your enjoyment while you enjoy delicious, fresh, home baked cakes with a cuppa.

There is also live entertainment in the Kiddies Arena (see below).

Children's Activities

Especially for the children, we have the Kiddies Arena where there will be Punch & Judy Shows and Clown Entertainment throughout the afternoon together with craft stalls and Face Painting.  All guaranteed to bring smiles to their faces.

In the Park there will be rides featuring a Chair-o-Plane carousel, a TeaCup roundabout, a Monster Slide and a Bouncy Castle.  There are numerous Fun Stalls where revellers of all ages can test their skills and win prizes.  There are also several Pocket-Money Stalls around the event where younger guests can choose a favoured toy!

Food and Drink

Whether you’re a fan of sweet or savoury, we’ve got all sorts of tasty treats on offer to tempt your taste buds!

We have many food outlets in our Food Fest area so come for lunch and stay for fun.
Please don’t eat before you come!!

You can choose from burgers, speciality German sausages, pies and pasties, noodles and paella.  If you want something sweet, we have delicious freshly made doughnuts, candy floss, slushies and, of course, Ice Cream vans to tempt you!!

In addition several of the local
Belmont restaurants will be open serving fish and chips, Indian and Vietnamese cuisine.

Alternatively, you can chill out in the
St John's Church's Tea Room and enjoy delicious, fresh, home baked cakes with a hot drink which will be served throughout the day.

Feeling thirsty?
The Beer Tent in the Park is being run for us this year by the team from the Wimbledon Brewery.  They will be offering their speciality craft beers for you to savour.  They tell us:
"Wimbledon Brewery has been beer-obsessed since 2014. Crafting everything from classic English ales to bold, seasonal creations that keep our drinkership coming back for more. Serving up a best-selling Helles-style lager, it’s a thirst quenching winner.  We’ll also have a range of other drink options to choose from."

Drinks will also be available from the licensed street bar at the Belmont Social Club in Station Road.

Street Market
The road through the centre of Belmont Village will feature a stupendous Street Market where shopaholics can delight in browsing the many market stalls offering a wide variety of products for all ages at affordable prices. There will also be several Pocket-Money Stalls around the event where younger guests can choose a favoured toy!

In total there will be over 80 stalls including trading, charity and information displays.

St John's Church
While experiencing all the stalls throughout the church grounds, find time to step inside the church to be transported to a calm and peaceful place filled with colour and spaces designed for you.

Through beautiful flower arrangements, displays of our traditional robes, arts and crafts activities, encouragement to wonder, and the chapel space for remembering and reflection, you can explore the colours and themes of the church year.

What are we collecting for?
In addition to giving our visitors a great day out, we are raising money to support the fantastic work of our local Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital and in particular their Oaks Centre for Children and Young People.  This year, with your support, all of the  profits from the Festival will be used to buy one (possibly two if Festival go-ers are suitably generous) AccuVein machines for use by the Oak Centre for Children and Young People at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

The Royal Marsden tell us "The AccuVein uses near-infrared technology to enable clinicians to visualise veins on the surface of the skin, otherwise not seen by the naked eye.  Identifying veins can be difficult for children during cancer treatment and these machines allow for better accuracy when placing needles and catheters, thereby greatly enhancing patient care and comfort."

Although entry is free, if you enjoy yourself, please make a generous contribution in one of our collecting buckets for our charity The Oaks Centre for Children and Young People at the Royal Marsden Cancer Care Hospital!!

In addition to our main charity, we are also hosting a number of other Charity Stalls many of whom will be running fun activities to collect for their own charities.

So with your support many deserving causes will benefit from the Festival.

Don’t miss this fantastic fun family event.
Please make a note in your diary now to come along on the 7th July!

See the Past Festivals page to remind you of the fun that we had at previous Belmont Festivals.
